A new silicone processing plant is being built in the Bohatice district of Karlovy Vary, which will be operated by the German company Wacker Chemie. Construction of the new hall will begin in the second quarter of this year.
The plant will process silicone compounds for further processing into end products such as insulating elements for electric car batteries or silicones for medical and healthcare applications.
Wacker is the world's leading manufacturer of silicones. Silicones are used in a wide range of industries, including electromobility, renewable energies and healthcare. The new silicone processing plant will create jobs, especially for people with secondary and higher education.
The Karlovy Vary region is endeavouring to attract new investors to the region and create jobs. The new silicone plant is a positive step in this direction.
The plant in Karlovy Vary will be Wacker's second in the Czech Republic. Wacker has been operating in Pilsen since 2007.
